I finally had to throw in the towel and take a complete week off from running. This will be the longest time in I don't know how long that I have taken such a break. However, if this is what it takes to heal all of my aches and pains, it will be well worth it.
My knee actually felt better after my horrible fall a couple of weeks ago. In fact, the week after I fell, I ran a 20+ mile week, something I haven't done since mid-August. I was so hopeful that the pain was a thing of the past. However, after my run last Tuesday morning, my knee began to hurt again (of course, in a different spot) and I just decided I have had enough. So, I am taking an extended rest in Carbondale, Illinois - mile 1,157.50 on my transcontinental run. Not such a bad place to be.
It doesn't look like there is much left for me to run in Illinois. I hope, after the week of rest, I can focus on getting through Illinois and into Missouri before the end of the year. If I calculated correctly, I have less than 75 miles to run to the Missouri state line.
Have a great Monday!

I lived in Carbondale for three years after college, it is a really nice place! Do you know where that picture that you posted is? There are some really neat national forest areas down there. Sorry you have to take a break from running, hopefully thats all your knee needs to get better!
