Yay! Winter has finally arrived in Bangkok! Well, for a few days at least.
Every day this week, it has been a little cooler and less humid than the day before. I don't think the high temperature has gone above 88 degrees all week and the nighttime temps are in the low-mid 70's. Thursday night, for the first time since we moved here, I did not turn on the air conditioning in our bedroom when I went to sleep. PeePorn opened all of the windows Friday morning and it was so nice to have fresh air in the house.
I woke up yesterday morning to an outside temperature of 71 degrees with 55% humidity and literally gulped my coffee down and ran out the door to go run. It was such a fantastic run - the cooler weather definitely makes a difference in how fast I can run. I was able to keep 3 miles (not consecutive though) of the 6 miles I ran under a 9:15/mile pace. This morning, it was the same temperature with a little more humidity but I did get another great run in. It looks like it is going to warm up again this week though. Ugh. Easy come, easy go.
I *almost* feel sorry for Kevin when he tells me how cold it is in Washington. However, I don't feel so bad when I remember that he will get to enjoy Spring in Washington which is probably the most beautiful time of the year in one of my favorite cities in the world.
When we were home this summer, we bought a new car so a) I would have something to drive while we were there visiting for those 7+ weeks (as opposed to paying almost $3,000 to rent a car) and b) Kevin would have it for when he is there on business. Buying the car this past summer also helped to ease the financial sting of having to buy two cars at once next summer when we move back. One of my "must haves" for this car was heated seats (front and back because I am a princess like that). Kevin sort of rolled his eyes at all of my "upgrades" but I must say that he has mentioned a few times how much he appreciates having those heated seats on those cold Virginia mornings.
Baseball and softball went well this weekend. The kids each had a game Friday night (Christopher's team won, Caitlynne's team lost) and then one Saturday morning (Caitlynne's team won, Christopher's team lost) so we were able to escape from the ball fields right before lunchtime. While I love coaching and/or watching them play, depending on their game schedules, we can end up spending our entire Saturday on the ball fields. That isn't too bad every once in a while but I really don't want to do that every weekend.
I am busy working on a post about our fourth and final day in China and hope to have that published later today.
Have a great Sunday!
