Kentucky and Then Some

It seemed rather fitting to run into Kentucky on the same day as the running of the Kentucky Derby.  I even played "Run For The Roses" (Dan Fogelberg) on my iPod in honor of the event.  Yup, I sure know how to dial up the excitement factor.

This is where I was at mile 1.65 in Elkhorn City, Kentucky.
568.6 mi - "6.74 mi to Ashcamp, KY", Pike County

I ran a total of 5 miles yesterday so this is where I finished up...
572.0 mi - "3.63 mi to Ashcamp, KY", Pike County

I probably spent too much time this morning looking on-line at some of the hats worn on Derby Day.  A few of my favorites...

If I ever were to go to Churchill Downs for the running of the Derby, the outfit below is exactly what I would choose to wear.  I love it!

When we lived in Australia, the Alice Springs Turf Club had several annual events that I/we would attend with friends.  I found the photo below in one of my files and, while our hats aren't as sophisticated as those shown above, we certainly had a great time (and lots of champagne)!
 Have a great Monday!
